María del Pino Santana Quintana is lecturer in Contemporary Literature and Film Studies at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain. Her research interests focus on independent cinema and contemporary narrative. As member of the research group “Thought, Creation and Representation in the field of Cultural Studies [PeCRaEC], she has published articles on cinematic representation of transgender women, female sexuality and functional diversity in cinema, and, more recently, on contemporary film portrayals of masculinity. She is editor of the volume El grosor del polvo: cultura popular en el ámbito hispánico (2025).
